MEET YOUR HERBALIST

Hello! I’m Alyssa Pittera, herbalist and founder of the Salty Rose Botanica. For over a decade, I’ve been building gardens, studying plants, weaving communities, crafting & sharing herbal remedies. Blending hands-on experience with formal training from Arborvitae School of Traditional Herbalism, I have studied Western Energetics, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Ayurveda. Over the years I have attended conferences, gatherings, herbal intensives, workshops, mushroom forays, and plant centered retreats all over the country, and am currently continuing my education through advanced medicine-making programs.
A pivotal part of my journey occurred on Maui when I immersed myself in yoga and permaculture, and unexpectedly fell in love with tending the land and growing an abundance of food and medicinal herbs. Later, in Northern California, I continued my education at the California School of Herbal Studies, learning plant identification, wildcrafting, and medicine making of all kinds. At the time, I was suffering from adult cystic acne and experiencing severe hormonal dysregulation. The remedies I was creating at CSHS provided more relief than anything I had tried.  I was inspired to share this with other people who may be walking a similar path, so The Salty Rose was born.   My mission has always been to create potent, toxin-free, plant powered skin and body care products that support your whole system from the inside out and outside in.
Today, Salty Rose Botanica offers dozens of tinctures, infused oils, custom teas, and topicals for the face and body.  Our products are bioregionally focused, crafted from homegrown, wildcrafted, and locally-sourced herbs from small farms in the Hudson Valley and the Northeast. I love to share this knowledge with my community through in-person classes and workshops.  My current passion project, Common Abundance, is an experiential 5 month bioregional medicine-making course, helping others tune into seasonal herbalism and integrate plants into their daily rituals.
Hearing how these remedies and practices support your wellbeing is the most rewarding part of this work. Whether you’re exploring the apothecary or interested in one-on-one guidance, there’s a place here for you to connect with herbs in a way that feels personal, meaningful, and approachable.  I’m so glad you’re here.
